Dai Manuel:

Hey there, fellow gold crushers, Welcome back to the 2% Solution. I'm your host, Diamond Well, and today we're diving first into a topic near and dear to my heart Power of accountability and unlocking your healthiest and your happiest self. I've been in the fitness trenches for over 30 years and I can tell you one thing with absolute certainty Accountability isn't just a buzzword, it's a game changer. But before we dive deep into the world of accountability, don't forget to hit that subscribe button. Share this episode with your friends and if you find value in our discussion today, please leave us a review. Your support fuels our mission to empower you to become the best version of yourself. Let's embark on this journey together and unlock the superpower of accountability. To kick things off, let's talk science. Did you know that when you commit to someone, your chances of achieving your goals increase by a staggering 65%? That's right. It's not just a hunch, it's backed by data. A study published in the American Society of Training and Development found that sharing your goals with someone drastically improves your success rate. So the next time you're tempted to keep your goals to yourself, remember the stat. Now let me take you on a little trip down memory lane In my early fitness days, and I'm talking, I guess, 2007, 2008.

Dai Manuel:

I thought I was pretty healthy and pretty fit but, unfortunately for me, I had a coach who held me accountable like no other. It was when I first encountered CrossFit. I remember walking into the gym feeling very out of place. It was very different from the typical gym environment. I found myself training for most of my adult life here. I was, you know, sort of in my early 30s and going at it again and I got to say it was amazing because this group format was wonderful, because I had a community that not only held me accountable, but I had a personal coach who held me accountable too. He did push me to my limits and I achieved results. I never thought possible Having that accountability partner transform not just my body but mostly my mindset. It was a true game changer. You've heard it before Willpower alone won't cut it. But what if I told you that accountability is like the sidekick to your willpower. It swoops in when your willpower falters and keeps you on the right path. It's like Batman and Robin, an unstoppable duo. A study from the Dominican University of California found that those who shared their goals with a friend, as well as sent weekly updates were significantly more likely to achieve them.

Dai Manuel:

Accountability bridges the gap between intention and action. Have you ever noticed that holding yourself accountable in one area of your life tends to spill over into other areas? It's like a domino effect of positivity. For example, when you commit to a consistent workout routine, you're more likely to make healthier food choices and as well as manage your stress and sleep better. It's a beautiful chain reaction. Now let's discuss finding the perfect accountability partner. It's not just about picking anyone. It's about selecting someone who aligns with your goals and values. Think of it as choosing a workout buddy who's as committed to crushing it as you are. A study published in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology found that weight loss participants with an accountability partner lost significantly more weight than those who went solo. Having someone who understands your journey can make all the difference.

Dai Manuel:

Habits oh those glorious habits. Accountability plays a pivotal role in forming those positive daily rituals. When answerable to someone, you're more likely to stick to your habits and create lasting change. It's like having a friendly nudge in the right direction. A study published in the European Journal of Social Psychology suggests that it takes an average 66 days to form a new habit. However, having that accountability factor can expedite the process.

Dai Manuel:

Little side note I remember when I was writing my book, the Whole Life Fitness Manifesto by the way, if you haven't had a chance to check it out, I recorded all the chapters in my earliest episodes when we released this podcast. So it's all a pair of your interests and you want to go back when I was creating that book. I did a lot of research around habit formation and what I found was if you start to type in to the Google, how many days does it take to form a habit, you're going to get a million and one different answers. So there are different studies that reference different durations to set, not only achieve goals, but also to maintain a habit and then create a ritual. And my answer to this is like don't worry so much about the number, Just remember the consistency. This is a journey of progression, not want of perfection. If you're consistent and frequent enough, you're going to notice some big positive changes. Remember, we're talking about a 2% solutioner. A little bit every day needs to be a shish overtime.

Dai Manuel:

Here's the real magic Self accountability. It's not just about relying on external factors. It's about owning your goals, actions and, most importantly, your outcomes. It's about becoming your accountability superhero and, trust me, it's a superpower worth mastering. A Journal of Management and Marketing Research study found that individuals with high self accountability are more likely to set and achieve challenging goals. After this, your very own accountability ecosystem. It's not just one person. It's a network of individuals and tools that support your journey, from fitness apps to accountability groups. Your ecosystem IE community uplifts you when you need it most. A report by PwC suggests that 74% of people who use technology to track their goals feel more in control of their lives. Your smartphone can be your accountability ally.

Dai Manuel:

And let's not forget the importance of celebrating wins, no matter how small they may feel. It's like fuel for your motivation and when life throws those inevitable curveballs, accountability helps you navigate setbacks with resilience. Remember it's about progress, not perfection. I know I repeat myself, but it's important. You gotta take that to heart. A study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin found that acknowledging small wins can boost your confidence and your motivation, making you more likely to tackle larger goals.

Dai Manuel:
