Speaker 1:

Hello Wellness Warriors, welcome back to another Mindset Monday on the 2% Solution, where we focus on small steps for significant changes in how we think, feel and, of course, how we live. I'm Diamond Well, and today we're diving into a topic that touches all of us happiness. I'm Diamond Well, and today we're diving into a topic that touches all of us Happiness. Specifically, I will share my top three mental health hacks that you can use to boost your joy anytime, anywhere, and full disclosure. Those that have been listening a while this may sound familiar, because I've said these before and I'm going to say it again because it's worth the reminder, because we all just bore happiness in our lives and, to be honest, we're usually only one choice away from experiencing more of it. Happiness might seem like a fleeting or elusive concept, but research and positive psychology has shown us that happiness is more a skill than a circumstance. It's something we can cultivate with practice. So if you want to uplift your spirits on a down day or enhance your everyday joy, these hacks are for you.

Speaker 1:

Hack number one practice gratitude. It's not just for Thanksgiving. Gratitude is like a muscle the more you use it it, the stronger it gets. A study from the university of california davis found that people who wrote about things they were grateful for once a week felt happier, more optimistic and physically healthier over time than those who focused on sources of aggravation, frustration, sadness. Imagine starting or ending your day by jotting down three things you're grateful for. These don't have to be monumental, even small joys count. It's about shifting your focus from what's missing to what's already abundant in your life.

Speaker 1:

Now moving on to hack number two Mindful breathing. Now, I know what you're thinking die breathing Really, but hear me out. The simple act of deep, conscious breathing can be incredibly powerful. Research shows that mindfulness meditation, which includes mindful breathing, can significantly reduce anxiety and depression. It's like hitting the reset button on your stress levels. Now here's a quick way Close your eyes. If you're driving, don't close your eyes, but if you're not driving, close your eyes. Take a slow breath in for four counts, starting now, now hold for four and now exhale for four. Repeat that five times. That's a mini meditation you can do anytime you feel the chaos creeping in and, believe me, it works. It takes about less than a minute to do it and then boom, look out, you're going to feel a bit better. And lastly, hack number three connect with others.

Speaker 1:

Happiness is best shared. According to a report from Harvard University, strong personal connections with friends and family are critical to a happy life. It's not about the number of friends or even the depth of the relationship, but it's about the quality of the connection. So pick up the phone and call a friend or talk with a neighbor. Even small social interactions can significantly lift your mood. So here are three mental health hacks to boost your happiness, and that includes gratitude, mindful breathing and connecting with others. Try incorporating these into your daily routine this week and watch how they transform your mood and mindset Almost instantly.

Speaker 1:
